(looking for a life actuary) Long-Term Valuation Manager from a Non-Life Insurer (Japan)
Job Responsibility :
Responsible for actuarial reserving and other financial reporting for long-term products; manage the Long-Term valuation team.
Key Tasks & Accountabilities :
1. Actuarial Reserving and Solvency Reporting
- Lead and manage the long-term actuarial reserving process, including IFRS 17 BBA and Japanese Statutory frameworks, support Swiss Solvency reporting.
- Oversee reserving governance and conduct reviews of reserving results.
- Review experience studies and establish assumptions for mortality, morbidity, and lapse rates.
2. Team Leadership
Serve as the people manager for the long-term valuation team (up to 7~9 members if including APAC), providing guidance and performance management.
3. Forecasting and Business Insights
Prepare forecasts and deliver management insights to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Qualified Actuary, or near qualification, with a recognized Actuarial Institute.
- Minimum of 8 years’ actuarial experience within insurance companies; experience in life actuarial or long-term valuation is preferred.
- Demonstrated team management experience is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient in actuarial software; experience with SAS, Prophet and Databricks is preferred.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Japanese is advantageous.
