VP – Head of A&H, Inforce Management from a direct life insurer (Thailand)

JOB SUMMARY              

The position holder shall be responsible for driving overall health & accident sustainable business for both  Life & Non Life entities, in areas such as pricing, portfolio management, data analytics & UW/claims management/reinsurance strategy, in addition to supporting distribution activities, compensation design & IF Management.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  1. (45%) Define, develop and implement Technical Excellence initiatives. Special focus on pricing, portfolio / in-force management initiatives. Ensure that the strategic and financial plan is consistent with the impact of the Technical Excellence initiatives, which implies quantifying their impact, as well as calculating the possible market momentum and isolating the impact of special events.
     
  1. (10%) Assist the Distribution area in the development of projects and initiatives, as well as in the design of sales compensation and related analytics.
    Cooperate in M&A processes, banca partnership opportunities and distribution agreements, giving support to GARO M&A, TechEx, Actuarial, Finance and Distribution areas in technical and local aspects during the valuation and approval phase and, in case of successful closing of the deal, during the execution and implementation phase.

 

  1. (5%) Optimize the portfolio of traditional savings products by maximizing the technical result and the profit margin of these products, as well as reducing their average guarantee and the duration gap.

 

  1. (20%) Define policies and driving governance for the following areas:
  1. Underwriting and risk strategy.
  2. Portfolio Management and Pruning.
  3. Reinsurance strategy.
  4. Claims & Cost containment strategy

 

  1. (10%) Promote the application of Data Analytics and Business Intelligence to improve the technical result.

 

  1. (5%) Build the Insurance Office team, considering different aspects: organization, technical skills, team members

 

  1. (5%) Any other projects/activities as per direction of the Chief Insurance Officer

 

EXPERIENCE

- At least 10 years of relevant experience and knowledge in Life/Non-Life business, including best practices and technical aspects, with preference in areas such as health & accident

- Experience in managing projects and teams.

- Experience in Business Unit operation.

- Experience in product development.

 

SKILLS

- Leadership skills, very good communicator and with the ability to inspire and influence senior executives towards development of initiatives and achievement of goals, in an evolving and often ambiguous market environment.

- Committed to continuous learning and willing to keep up to date on new developments.

- Strategic thinking, creative and foresight.

- Understanding of the local market.

- Good understanding of financial and insurance concepts, such as Solvency II and IFRS17.

- Discretion when dealing with confidential information (e.g., M&A processes).

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

- Proficiency in English.

- Proactive, autonomous and with initiative. Focus on execution and implementation.

- External: Regional & Group Office, Reinsurers, Regulatory Teams

 

MANAGERIAL & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

- Will lead a dynamic team of 5 high performing actuaries.

- 2 from life division, 2 from non-life division, 1 data analytics

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS  

- Will report to the Chief Insurance Officer
